Traditional Book Typesetting

Traditional print book typesetting costs around US$3.50* per page, depending on the book’s complexity, languages and length. For books with fewer than 150 pages, there is an additional setup fee of US$100.

 

Author corrections cost US$2.00 per correction**. The first three client correction rounds are included when correctly marked in the PDF and within the allowance explained below.***

Technical Review

We offer a technical review before balancing and again afterwards to identify typos, inconsistencies and reference errors that may have escaped earlier proofreading. It can also be carried out on the Word manuscript before typesetting. This can catch many problems, but professional proofreading remains the preferred choice and is not replaced by this review.

 

The review is priced by quotation. Applying corrections found during the review is charged separately and is not included in the free client-correction allowance.

Book Design

For books requiring a unique design treatment, the fee is US$2,500. Typesetting is quoted separately per page once the design is agreed.

Kindle & EPUB

Once your book is typeset, we can prepare an EPUB edition for Kindle and other compatible reading platforms. For trade books, the price is usually US$200; please request a quotation in advance.

Hourly

For work charged by the hour, the rate is US$300. All prices on this page are in US dollars; your agreed quotation sets the price and scope for your project.

Bibliographies and Indexes

We can compile and format a bibliography from the references in your book, and create indexes to help readers find material quickly.

Bibliography: US$2.00 per unique entry. Repeated citations to the same work and edition count as one entry.

Subject index: US$2.00 per indexable book page. This alphabetical index covers the main topics, names and ideas discussed in the book, with subentries and cross-references. You review the proposed entries before final page references are added.

Source index: US$2.00 per indexable book page. This index shows where cited passages from literary works, historical documents, religious texts and other sources are quoted or discussed, organised by work and by chapter, verse, section or page as appropriate.

Subject and source indexes are separate services and are charged separately. Index fees are based on the pages of your book reviewed, not the length of the finished index. Final page references are added after balancing. The bibliography fee is based on unique entries in the completed list.

** The minimum fee is US$40 per chargeable round of corrections.

 

*** The first three client correction rounds are included only when correctly marked in the PDF and within an average of two corrections per PDF page in each round. If that limit is exceeded, the entire round is chargeable. A round is one consolidated set of corrections from the same proof; sending it in separate instalments does not change the allowance.

 

Technical review is available by quotation. Applying corrections found during that review is chargeable and is excluded from the included-corrections allowance.

 

After balancing, corrections are charged at US$300 per hour. There is no charge for adjustments that can only be made after balancing, such as completing running heads and internal cross-references.
