ProofRight Technical Review

A fresh look before the final pages
After you have read a book several times, it becomes surprisingly easy to see what you expect to see. Our ProofRight tool provides an additional technical review, helping to identify typos, inconsistencies and reference problems that may have escaped notice.
When you tell us that the book is complete and ready for balancing, we run ProofRight and send you the review as an editable Word file. You can consider each proposed correction, read the explanation and approve the changes you want. You are charged only for corrections you approve, under the agreed correction terms.
What the review covers
We check technical details such as spelling and punctuation errors, inconsistent names and abbreviations, numbering, cross-references and typography. Where the book contains citations and a bibliography, we check their correspondence and investigate identifiable reference errors. In bilingual work, we also look for supported omissions, duplication and mismatched passage or note associations.
The review respects your book’s style and approved editorial decisions. It does not rewrite your prose, assess your argument or replace a professional editor or proofreader.
You remain in control
The Word report identifies the location, shows the current and proposed wording, and explains the reason for each correction. Corrections have approval boxes; questions have a place for your answer. Return the report with your decisions, and we apply the corrections you approve.
Checks at each final stage
The first review begins when you confirm that the book is ready for balancing. We run ProofRight again after balancing to check the book at that stage. If you prepare the index yourself, we run it once more after your index has been incorporated. These checks take place at different stages, so approved corrections may arise before balancing, after balancing and after a client-prepared index is added.
Bibliography preparation is available separately if you need us to compile or organise your references. Your own corrections to PDF proofs should still follow our PDF-markup guide.
