Typesetting and design
Book typesetting
Traditional print book typesetting costs around £3 per page for a simple book without images. Complex typesetting is quoted according to the work involved. The price depends on the book’s complexity, languages and length. Contact us for a personalised quotation based on your manuscript and requirements.
Book design
For books requiring a unique design treatment, the fee is £2,000. Typesetting is quoted separately.
All prices on this page are in pounds sterling. VAT must be added for clients in Israel. Your quotation sets the agreed price and scope of your project.
Pages and setup
The quoted page count is an estimate. The final fee will be based on the actual number of pages in the PDF, including blank pages. Any special fonts required for the project are charged separately.
Books with fewer than 150 pages incur a £75 setup fee.
Endnotes that restart with each chapter require substantial manual work and are billed hourly. We generally recommend continuous endnote numbering, which is also more convenient for readers.

Full details of these services
Subject indexing
We can create an alphabetical index of the main topics, names and ideas discussed in your book, with subentries and cross-references to help readers find related material, for £1.50 per indexable book page. You receive a complete Word index with provisional page numbers, ready to review and suggest changes.
Source indexing
We can also create indices of the passages cited in your book, showing where each is quoted or discussed. These can cover literary works, historical documents, religious texts or other cited sources, organised by work and by chapter, verse, section or page as appropriate. The fee is £1.50 per indexable book page, covering the agreed source categories.
Subject indexing and source indexing are charged separately. Fees are based on the pages of your book reviewed, not the length of the finished index. After balancing, we update and verify the page references.
Bibliographies
We can compile a bibliography from the references in your book for £1.50 per unique entry. This includes checking the bibliographic details and formatting the entries consistently. Repeated citations to the same work and edition count as one entry.
Images
The standard fee is £5 per image, provided it meets our image preparation requirements.
Images must be ready for print, in the correct colour space and cropped to the required size. Please supply images as separate files, rather than embedded in Word documents. Photographs supplied as PDFs should be converted to JPG.
Preparing images that do not meet these requirements is billed at £225 per hour. Image preparation requirements.

Tables are charged at £4–£13 each, depending on complexity.
Specially formatted items
Dedications, letters, biographies, stories and similar inserts requiring separate formatting – such as different typefaces, borders or shading – are charged at £15 per item.

Corrections and ProofRight
Client correction rounds
Standard rate: £1.50 per correction, with a minimum of £30 per round. Corrections are counted as they are listed in Acrobat’s Comments panel.
A correction round is one consolidated set of marked corrections submitted together. Please include all corrections identified during that review. Corrections from the same review submitted separately are treated as one round when assessing the free-round allowance.
First three client correction rounds: no charge, provided corrections are marked correctly in Acrobat Reader and each round contains no more than an average of two corrections per PDF page. If a round exceeds this threshold, the entire round is chargeable, not just the corrections above the allowance.
Correction instructions: Marking corrections in your PDF.
ProofRight technical review
Before typesetting: At your request, we can run ProofRight on your original Word manuscript. Corrections you approve are charged at £1 per correction. This can be an excellent option when time is short. However, you may be paying for corrections that your proofreader would otherwise have caught, so it can cost more overall. It does not replace professional proofreading.
After typesetting: When you confirm that the book is complete and ready for balancing, we run ProofRight to check for typos, inconsistencies and problems with references. You receive an editable Word report and decide which corrections to approve. We run the review again after balancing and, if you have prepared your own index, after it has been incorporated.
Only the corrections you approve are applied and charged. After typesetting and before balancing, approved technical-proofread corrections are charged at £1.50 per correction, with a minimum of £30 per round – including during the first three rounds. The free-round allowance does not cover corrections arising from Renana Typesetting’s technical proofread.
After balancing: corrections are charged at £225 per hour. There is no charge for adjustments that can only be made after balancing, such as finalising running heads and cross-references. About balancing.
Payment
Payment may be made by bank transfer or credit card. We do not accept cheques.
For invoices under £750, please add a £20 processing fee when paying by bank transfer to our Israeli bank account. This fee does not apply to credit card payments.
Full payment is due on completion of the work or three months after the first draft is sent, whichever comes first.
Please include your quote number in all correspondence.
